We make these bed-time resolutions to hit the gym every other day… throw away our pack of fumes once and for all, or (like me)-you may resolve to restart bi-weekly blog-posts… and well… as the arabic saying goes (The promises of the night are washed away by daylight)…
Who are we accountable to anyway!
I was reading some class-material today that quoted Steven Covey Jr in his book “the five waves of trust”… and it asked a question in relation to “how would you trust a friend, who keeps blowing you-off at the last minute everytime you are supposed to meet”… well then how do you really feel about the relationship you have with yourself, since everytime you agree on an appointment, you never show up…
It got me wondering on how much really rides on this self-accountability…. self-trust which is the basis for our self-confidence and thus the basis for how we experience our lives…
Let’s debate another solution… to actually stop making promises, let go of planning and live life as it comes… but according to Mihaly C. (the classic writer on happiness and flow)… having goals is (one of) the pre-requisites to joyful living which allows us to focus our attention and feel completely in the moment and (in the flow) while we set-off towards what we decided we wanted to achieve… So basically… making goals (even one like reading a book) and achieving them makes us happy… another price we really don’t want to pay for an excuse like “I don’t feel like it today”…
Have a Joy-FULL day

Many wouldn’t stop to think that accepting to be treated disrespectfully (getting blown off repeatedly is an example) is in direct relationship with low self esteem.
And achieving goals is what we live for whether we know it or not. Be it aiming for something as modest as a nice meal at the end of the day or as as grand as freeing a nation. Once we let of go of that, we let go of our will to live.
