What is EFT
EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique and is a term coined by Gary Craig (who adapted and simplified this tapping technique for use in Self Help). It is based on the same “energy meridians” philosophy that is used in Chinese Therapies (Acupuncture, Acupressure, Reflexology etc.).
EFT is basically a simple self-administered ”finger-tip tapping” routine, which inputs kinetic energy onto specific meridians on the head and body while you think about your specific problem – whether it is a traumatic event, an addiction, pain, etc, and voice affirmations. This combination of tapping the energy meridians and voicing affirmations has shown to clear the “short-circuit” – the emotional block — from the body’s bioenergy system, thus restoring mind and body balance, which is essential for optimal health and the healing of physical disease.
With EFT, in a very short time, a large number of physical and emotional symptoms can diminish or even disappear. It is actually so simple, safe and effective,it has become one of the most widely used therapy tools by psychologists, coaches and other self-help practitioners. Once learned, this routine can be self-administered without supervision and thus can help break emotional (addictions, phobias, guilt, depression) and physical (pain, sport-limitations..) barriers.
The EFT basic tapping routine is widely found on the internet. I use Michael Gandy’s version with my clients (an advanced routine that has been developed by this accupuncturist in cooperation with Gary Craig).
